Breast Cancer Awareness Seminar 2025
On November 11th, students of 3’d and 1st Year MBBS, in coordination with the Department of Physiology successfully conducted the 3rd Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Seminar.
The event started with the recitation of Holy Quran, and the National Anthem. Then Prof. Dr. Muhammad Munir, Professor of Pathology and Vice Principal Islam Medical College, walked the students through the hormonal and receptor-based foundations of breast cancer. That was followed by a beautiful play, titled ‘Adalat-e-Jahalat’ (The Court of Ignorance), written by Maryam Shahid Dayal, and edited by Ali Shahzad Mtr, Abrish Gull, and Abdullah Sikander. It was an amazing performance by the cast, namely, Dr Nayab Khalid, Maryam Shahid Dayal, Ali Shahzad Mtr, Abrish Gull, Hurmat Shaban, Talha Rehman, Mishayel Arshad, and Muhammad Saad.
A panel of professors and top medical practitioners of Sialkot was then invited to speak and answer the questions of the audience, relevant to their areas of expertise. The panel consisted of Prof Dr Abdul Rauf Mirza, Professor of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, and Principal of Islam Dental College, Prof. Dr. Ashba Shahid, Professor of Gynaecology & Obstetrics, and Consultant OBGYN at Islam Central Hospital, Prof. Dr. Abid Raza, Professor of Surgery at Islam Medical College, Dr Maham Tahir, Assistant Professor of Physiology at Islam Medical & Dental College, and Dr Muhammad Azan
To conclude the event, the Worthy Chairman of Islam Medical & Dental Colleges, Chief Guest of the Seminar, Dr Mohammad Islam delivered the Chief Guest’s address and distributed the souvenirs to the Guest Speakers and Organizers. The Chairman and the Principals of Islam Medical & Dental Colleges distributed certificates to some high achieving students for their contributions, including Hafsa Mustafa, who secured 2nd Position in UHS Annual Professional Examination, and Annal Zohaib, who secured the 3rd Position in UHS, and winners of 8th Annual International MEDICON, and Khawaja Muhammad Safdar Medical College Research Symposium.
We are always proud of our students for tirelessly working and conducting such beautiful and thought-provoking events. Special thanks to Worthy Chairman Islam Group of Colleges, Dr. Mohammad Islam, Respected Principal of Islam Medical College, Prof. Dr. Zamir Ahmed, and the Chief Organizer, the Head of Department ofPhysiology, Prof. Dr. Mamoona Shafiq, for their help and guidance throughout the planning process which made the event into the success it was.
